PREREQUISITES

  • – You must have a comprehensive understanding of orthodontic biomechanics with at least 2 years of full-time orthodontic practice and advanced training
  • – You must be familiar with miniscrew placement, use, and removal procedures from Dr. Cope’s In-Office Introductory course or his Online TAD Diagnosis & Treatment Planning video course. Also, mastery of the basic fundamentals of miniscrew implant use is required.

Internationally acclaimed for his pioneering research and clinical techniques on TADs, Dr. Jason B. Cope is also widely known for being a perfectionist, not only on his orthodontic cases, but for everything he does.  
 

Dr. Cope’s was a pioneer in the development of Temporary Anchorage Devices focusing on the development of clinical protocols and products to enhance MiniScrew Implant (MSI) use. He began using TADs in 1999. After several years of use, he partnered with IMTEC Corp in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 2003, to develop the Ortho Implant, the first US manufactured orthodontic MSI. 

He coined the term Temporary Anchorage Devices and developed the nomenclature system used by most orthodontists today to describe the various different types of TADs. He developed the Cope Placement Protocol™, the first minimally invasive protocol that utilized drill-free MSI placement with topical anesthetic only. 

He also developed a patented life-like triple-density typodont for teaching MSI placement methods. Other protocols and products he developed include the biomechanically-oriented MSI-based palatal protocol for openbite closure, the patented openbite closing transplatal arch, the biomechanically-oriented MSI-based molar protraction protocol, the concept of temporarily replacing missing permanent lateral incisors in growing kids with MSIs, as well as the patented locking closed coil spring for TADs.

COURSE OUTLINE

You’ll implement everything you learn immediately through our hands-on, step-by-step processes to help you treat those seemingly impossible cases with TADs in your practice right away.

This 2-day advanced course covers the use of miniscrew implants (MSIs) in advanced cases for orthodontic malocclusions. Dr. Cope uses his rich experience with miniscrews to demonstrate advanced techniques for cases of the sagittal, vertical, and transverse dimensions appropriate for miniscrew applications. During the course, specific cases will be treatment planned and analyzed mechanically to ensure that participants fully understand the ramifications of incorporating MSIs into clinical practice. Note: This is an advanced course, it is expected that participants are already familiar with placement, use, and removal procedures from Dr. Cope’s In-Office Introductory course or Online TADs Diagnosis & Treatment Planning video. The group session diagnosis and treatment planning will reveal the various treatment plans for each individual case prior to viewing the actual treatment sequence of the treated case.

During the course, you willl learn by:

-Several specific cases will be treatment planned and analyzed mechanically to ensure that participants fully understand the ramifications of incorporating miniscrews into clinical practice.

– Dr. Cope will walk you through the confusing nomenclature surrounding the “prescription” of miniscrews, indications & contraindications, treatment planning, sterilization protocols, surgical placement, biomechanical considerations, clinical applications, removal procedures, and potential complications.

– The hands-on workshop gives participants the confidence to place miniscrews themselves. Initially, we’ll practice placement on our patented TAD-O-DONT, which allows us to visually evaluate the relationship of the TAD to the roots of the teeth after you’ve placed them. Then, we’ll practice on a pigjaw, which has similar density to human bone.
 
– Finally, in-office live real patient observation treatment demonstrates TAD placement, removal, and patient management in an office setting. NO NEEDLES, NO CRYING, LITTLE TO NO BLOOD – GUARANTEED!
